European Policy Seminar ranked successful

The ACA Secretariat is happy to report the successful outcome of the second European Policy Seminar (EPS) this year ‘International rankings and indicators. What they tell us and what they don't.’ Taking place on 4 April in Brussels, the seminar provided an introduction and a constructive critique of international rankings and league tables. With an impressive range of speakers, covering ranking veterans and pioneers as well as their critics, ACA examined major methodologies in use today (e.g. the Shanghai and the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES) ranking) and introduced new approaches such as the discipline-specific rankings of the German Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE). ACA would like to thank both speakers and participants for a rich and stimulating event. We would also like to invite you to the next EPS which takes place on 16 May 2008 and is devoted to ‘Exporting education: Europe's role in transnational education.’

On that note: Early-bird registrations for the ACA Annual Conference in Tallinn, ‘Beyond 2010: European higher education in the next decade’ are open until 9 May. To be held from 15-17 June 2008 in the wonderful city of Tallinn, Estonia, the Annual Conference will explore what the next ten years hold in store for us internationalists in higher education.
