Biographical note

Veronika Kupriyanova re-joined ACA in 2020 as a Senior Policy Coordinator leading the Secretariat’s policy development, advocacy and member engagement work. As of 2023 she is the Deputy Director of ACA.  She is the co-chair of the Thematic Peer Group “European Policies and Programmes” dealing with EU higher education and research policies to help ACA members prepare actions and responses at the European level. 

Veronika has almost fifteen years of experience in the design, implementation, coordination and evaluation of EU policy initiatives and projects in the field of higher education and research. Her areas of interest include, among others, institutional partnerships, impact of internationalisation and academic mobility, global talent attraction, staff mobility, and professional development in the field of (international) higher education.  

Prior to joining ACA, Veronika worked as a Policy Analyst at the European University Association (EUA) focusing on European higher education funding policies, institutional autonomy and governance, as well as on efficiency and effectiveness in the higher education context. She has gained the hands-on experience in managing university collaborations at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HUB) and in advising universities on their internationalisation activities working for two consulting companies based in the US and the UK. 

Veronika holds a joint master’s degree in World Politics from the Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO) and the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po). She is fluent in English, French, German and Dutch, with Russian being her mother tongue.
