The Foundation for Refugee Students (UAF) has been providing support to refugee students and professionals in their studies and in finding suitable employment on the Dutch labour market since 1948. UAF offer guidance towards several job and training opportunities for refugees wanting to study or seeking work. It also offers guidance specific to refugee doctors and academics.
The Dutch Research Council (NWO) funds top researchers, steers the course of Dutch science by means of research programmes and by managing the national knowledge infrastructure. NWO has a funding scheme Hestia (Impulse for Refugees in Science research grants) specially meant for refugee scientist. Project leaders of a research project already funded by NWO or ZonMw can apply for funding from NWO to have a refugee scientist (master's or PhD level) participate in their project for the duration of 18 months. The candidate with refugee status must have a residence permit.
NUFFIC offers information for international students and academics about studying and doing research at higher education institutions in the Netherlands. Their Study in Holland portal offers general and practical information about living and studying in the country, the Dutch higher education system and opportunities after graduation.
