What’s new in Brussels? Recent developments in European policies and programmes, 28–29 January 2027

Join us in Brussels on 28–29 January 2027 to explore the future of Erasmus+ we prepare for the transition to a new programme cycle!

With the current Erasmus+ programme (2021–2027) entering its final year and negotiations on the next Erasmus+ programme (2028–2034) advancing, the European higher education sector faces an important period of transition. The proposed Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the future Erasmus+ Regulation reaffirm established priorities while introducing new ambitions linked to competitiveness, skills development, international talent attraction and global cooperation.

The 2027 edition of What’s new in Brussels?, ACA’s flagship seminar, will provide an opportunity to take stock of the latest EU policy and programme developments, explore the implications of the proposed Erasmus+ architecture and funding priorities, and consider how institutions can make strategic use of the final 2027 funding opportunities while preparing for the next programme cycle.

Through a mix of high-level policy discussions and interactive parallel sessions, the seminar will bring together European and national policymakers, national agencies, higher education institutions and experts to examine both the ambitions and practical implications of the transition.

The plenary discussions will address the evolving priorities for Erasmus+ 2028–2034, the future funding of its international dimension through Global Europe, and the growing expectations for higher education cooperation to contribute to Europe's competitiveness, skills needs and global engagement.

The parallel sessions will offer opportunities for more focused exchanges on the legal status of European Universities alliances, effective approaches to inclusion and diversity, the benefits and challenges of blended mobility, and emerging opportunities for higher education cooperation with Africa and the Southern Mediterranean.

What’s new in Brussels? is a must-attend for European and international higher education professionals, policymakers, and national and regional stakeholders. Whether you’re seeking answers to pressing questions, updates on the latest policy shifts, or inspiration for new projects, the seminar has something for everyone.
