UNESCO: Rethinking Education in a Changing World

UNESCO. Rethinking Education in a Changing World. February 2014, pages: 24

As a follow up of the February Meeting of the Senior Experts’ Group, UNESCO has published a report entitled “Rethinking Education in a Changing World”. The report aims to broaden the debate on post-2015 education and the principles outlined in the 1972 Faure Report, Learning to Be and the 1996 Delors Report, Learning: The Treasure Within, considering societal transformations and their effects on the creation, reproduction, transmission and appropriation of knowledge, skills and values. The document underlines the need to acknowledge different realities in the so-called Global North and Global South, and calls for moving away from the illusion of one world and one model - the origins of unjust generalisations and cultural domination.
