The call for applications for the 5th edition of the Stanisław Ulam programme, aiming to increase the internationalisation of Polish universities and scientific institutions, is open. The ULAM NAWA programme allows recognised as well as promising scientists coming to Poland, enabling them to complete internships and establishing and deepening scientific cooperation in Polish research and academic centres. The programme enables a gradual increase in the number of foreign scientists involved in research and teaching in Poland, thus strengthening the potential of Polish institutions.

So far, four calls have been closed, with higher interest than what has been foreseen to support with the designated funding.  The average success rate after four closed editions was around 22%. The total number of more than 250 beneficiaries from 52 countries have benefited from the programme.

The ULAM NAWA scholarship holders identified 66 Polish institutions and universities where they have conducted their research projects. Although some of the projects ended, many of the scholarship holders remained in Poland, staying at their host institutions longer than foreseen, working on new joint projects and publications.
