U-Multirank exceeds initial goal of 500 university registrations

The new EU-funded international university ranking “U-Multirank” announced this month that it exceeded its target of 500 participating universities ahead of schedule. Although the minimum goal of 500 higher education institutions worldwide has been reached, registrations are “still open, but space is limited”, so higher education institutions are encouraged to register now.

The project aims to attract universities from around the world to submit data for ranking performance of universities not only in terms of research, but also in terms of quality of teaching and learning, international orientation, success in knowledge transfer and contribution to regional growth (see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, February 2013).  The objective is to make the ranking system a more comprehensive and user-friendly tool.

Out of 540 registered institutions about 75% are based in the European Union and 25% are located outside the EU. The first results of this multidimensional ranking will be published in 2014.
