Trump’s decision to move US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem triggers students’ protests across the Middle East

On 6 December, USA President Donald Trump announced his decision to move the USA embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This blunt decision has unsurprisingly fuelled a series of protests in the Middle East, as it clearly undermines the Palestinian authority over Jerusalem, which is also their capital.
The academic world has not been silent either: protests have risen in Egypt, among the students of the American University in Cairo and other universities. Also Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research allegedly strongly condemned Trump’s decision.
Protests by university students have apparently also burst in Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan and in some Islamic states in Africa, among which Somalia, Morocco, Libya, Mauritania and Sudan.
