Trends, Issues and Challenges in Internationalisation of Higher Education

de Wit, H. Trends, Issues and Challenges in Internationalisation of Higher Education. Centre for Applied Research on Economics and Management (CAREM), Amsterdam, 2011. ISBN: 978-9-08-171221-7. Pages: 138.

This book was issued on the occasion of the author’s April 2011 inaugural public lecture as Professor (lector) of Internationalisation of Higher Education at the School of Economics and Management of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences. It contains the English translation of his remarks from that day on the topic “Law of the Stimulative Arrears? Internationalisation of the Universities of Applied Sciences, Misconceptions and Challenges”, as well as eight other chapters and articles he has written independently or in conjunction with colleagues over the last three years. These items are divided into two main sections: one focused on trends and issues in internationalisation of higher education more generally, the other on student mobility specifically. A complete listing of the author’s publications on internationalisation in higher education (from 1991 to 2011) is also included, as is a brief overview and analysis of contemporary international education research and resources.
