The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme was established by the Hungarian Government in 2013 to promote the internationalisation of the Hungarian higher education and to attract top foreign students from all around the world who can establish personal and professional attachments to Hungary while enjoying high quality education in the heart of Europe.

Since then the programme rapidly increased and now accepting students from 70 different countries from all around the world. During the years the programme received lot of attention from the students, therefore now the Tempus Public Foundation receives more than 35 000 applications per year.

Although the pandemic has started in the middle of the entrance examination period, the Foundation was able to manage the process without any problems and we are hoping that the successful candidates will arrive to Hungary in September. If not, the institutions are ready to start online courses.

The Foundation made its decision in June and awarded more than 4900 students for the academic year 2020/2021. The scholarship holders start their studies in 29 different Hungarian universities in September.

With the new scholarship holders, the total number of the awarded students is now more than 10 000. The generous scholarship includes exemptions from the tuition fee, monthly stipend, accommodation, insurance and other services for the recipients.
