Set for a timeframe of six years from 2007 till 2012, the recently published report on the Norwegian Programme for Development, Research and Education (NUFU) summarises the achievements of this development cooperation programme in higher education. NUFU has been in place since 1991 and aims at developing sustainable capacity in research and research-based higher education in Southern developing countries. In total, 67 projects in 19 countries across Africa and Asia were supported by the NUFU framework programme, benefiting 194 PhD and 294 Master’s students, leading to the 2030 publications within the framework period and contributing to the production of knowledge in areas relevant to goals and objectives at the national level.
