The Graduate Market in 2013: Annual review of graduate vacancies & starting salaries at Britain’s leading employers

High Fliers Research.  The Graduate Market in 2013: Annual review of graduate vacancies & starting salaries at Britain’s leading employers. Author, London, 2013. Pages: 34.

This report presents a study of graduate vacancies and starting salaries in 2012 at 100 leading employers in the United Kingdom (UK), drawn from The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers 2012. The results of the study indicate that in 2012, the UK’s leading employers recruited fewer graduates than expected, as entry-level vacancies dropped by 0.8% compared to 2011. The largest proportion of cuts was found in the accounting and professional services firms and in investment banks. However, in 2013 employers are expected to increase graduate recruitment by 2.7%, namely in the public sector, retail, engineering and industrial companies. Despite the expected increase in graduate entry-level vacancies, the report indicates that more than a third of these vacancies will be filled by graduates who have already worked in the organisations, either through internships, industrial placements or vacation work.
