The future of HE international cooperation

Join ACA and our Brussels-based members in the afternoon of 11 May in Brussels and online to discuss the outlooks of global cooperation for European higher education.

The event is dedicated to the global dimension of the European Strategy for Universities (ES4U), aiming to support an enforcement of the global pillar of higher education (HE) cooperation at EU level. More specifically, we would like to explore what the principle of “inclusive excellence”, as described in the staff working document accompanying the ES4U in relation to the global dimension, means for the European Commission (EC) and different types of stakeholders, including ACA members, as well as how this meaning might need to evolve in light of the changing geopolitical context. The principle of inclusive excellence is presented by the EC as rooted in European values and as one of the distinct features and key strengths of Europe’s HE, but what exactly does it mean for European higher education policies and practices?

We shall explore the strategic scope and role of Europe’s HE cooperation outlook and approach, through the emergent concept of inclusive excellence, and provide tangible ideas for implementation to EU policymakers and stakeholders.

The panellists will discuss what inclusive excellence means for HE actors in the context of global cooperation, how this approach could be (better) leveraged to achieve institutional, national, and European   missions, what could be done at the European level to enable these processes, and more. The full programme, registrations (free of charge) and the list of speakers are available here.

This seminar is co-organised by: the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA); the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir), VLUHR International, and the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research – Czech Liaison Office for Education and Research in Brussels (DZS-CZELO).
