This report presents the results of the first year of the Brazilian programme Science without Borders (Ciência sem Fronteiras) in the United States (US). This programme is an initiative of the Brazilian government to send students abroad to study and train in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Currently, the US hosts the largest number of Brazilian students under this programme. The analyses presented in this report show that 1 954 Brazilian students have been placed at 238 US institutions in 46 states; 71% of these students are enrolled in engineering and computer sciences and 31% have participated in internships in nearly 100 corporate partners/internship hosts.
