Taking more advantage of increased autonomy: OECD message to Japanese higher education

OECD Reviews of Tertiary Education: Japan. OECD Publishing, 2009. ISBN: 978-92-64-03932-2. Pages: 131.

OECD has recently published its review of tertiary education in Japan, as part of a series of reviews carried out in a total of 24 countries. Some of the key recommendations include that tertiary institutions should take better advantage of the new autonomy granted to them through reforms of 2004, for example through new approaches to academic career tracks and internal resource allocation. In addition, it recommends greater flexibility for universities in setting tuition fees.

The review is available as a PDF e-book from the OECD.
