The International Association of Universities (IAU), the global higher education membership-based organisation set up in 1950 under the auspices of UNESCO and currently having a membership of more than 650 universities and organisations, is currently conducting its 5th Global Survey on Internationalization of Higher Education. This is the longest running internationalisation survey of its type, with the first survey being undertaken in 2003. More information and executive summaries of all surveys can be found online. 

Each IAU Global Survey provides a rich data analysis of global and regional trends and developments in the field of international higher education and related policymaking. They have become an invaluable resource for those interested in internationalisation of higher education, providing a concise comparative overview between the world regions.

The 5th Global Survey benefits from the support of a number of international organisations, including ACA’s German member organisation, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In order to maximize the value of the survey to the higher education community, ACA encourages all higher education institutions to take part in the survey, which is open until 30 June 2018. The survey can be taken in English, French or Spanish.
