Swiss students launch a petition for the association of Switzerland to Erasmus+ 2021-27

The Swiss Student Union (VSS-UNES-USU) and the Swiss youth forum, together with other organisations, have launched a petition, which asks the Federal Council to take the necessary measures for the participation of Switzerland in the next Erasmus+ Programme 2021-27.

The reasons underpinning the launch of this petition include the fear of Switzerland becoming isolated and the wish for more exchange and cooperation in a strong European Education Area – Switzerland included.
Following the adoption of the mass immigration initiative in 2014, the negotiations relating to Switzerland’s involvement in the Erasmus+ Programme were suspended and a Swiss parallel, “shadow” solution to Erasmus+ has been implemented since 2014.

The petition can be signed online (by Swiss and European citizens) until 30 June 2020, after which the collected signatures will be sent directly to the Federal Council.
