Successful EU-Asia seminar opens thematic series

The second in the ACA European Policy Seminars of 2006 took place in Brussels on 5 May. The event, entitled Cooperation in higher education between Europe and other world regions: Asia”, was the first of a series of European policy seminars devoted to the relations between Europe and other world regions. Subsequent seminars will focus on other world regions. More information will be available in the next issue of Education Europe.

The seminar, featuring experienced speakers from ACA members, the European Commission and higher education institutions, was met with great popularity. Once again, registrations had to be closed almost four weeks prior to the event as all places had already been filled up. Presentations at the seminar addressed the perception of Europe in Asia, developments in the Chinese higher education sector, European and national-level cooperation with Asia, as well as different institutional strategies in cooperating with Asian higher education institutions and recruiting Asian students. ACA received an overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants – a great encouragement for future seminars.
