The object of this call for tender by the European Commission is to produce two studies, the aim of which is to get a better understanding of the issues and challenges faced by vocational education and training (VET) trainers and to identify ways to strengthen their role in reaching the Lisbon goals. The general objectives of the studies are as follows:

• To strengthen the quality of education and training systems in Europe;
• to contribute to increasing to the qualty and attractiveness of the trainer profession;
• to foster the quality, attractiveness and accessibility of the oportunities for lifelong learning available within member states.
