Study on the attractiveness of German universities for international researchers

Wegner, A. GATE-Germany/DAAD, Hochschulrektorenkonferenz (HRK), Internationale Nachwuchswissenschaftler in Deutschland: Motivation - Integration – Förderung. W. Bertelsmann Verlag, 2016. ISBN: 978-3-7639-5619-7.Pages:190

An attractive research environment, good working atmosphere and equal opportunities are the main factors why international researchers find German universities appealing to work and study at. These are the main findings of a study from GATE-Germany (DAAD) and the German Rectors Conference (HRK). About 1500 international researchers were being interviewed in an online survey about their academic, professional and social integration, their motives to come to Germany and their future career objectives. The study was carried out by German Centre for Research on Higher Education and Science Studies (DZHW) and is part of a broader study that addresses the motivation, integration and support of prospective and future junior researchers in Germany.
