The aim of this call is to provide the European Commission and member states with practical information and analysis constituting a broad survey of the situation "on the ground" in Europe on intercultural skills taught in foreign language lessons / courses (if any) at each of the main stages of compulsory education and training in the European Union., upon which they can base future policy proposals and developments. In addition, it should provide practical information of use to local, regional and national educational authorities as well as to any other stakeholders working on this field. The work involved will be a mix of survey, interviews and desk-based research and analysis, based wherever possible upon existing sources; it will also involve fieldwork and fact-finding visits.
