Over 55 participants from the national agencies of 23 different countries took part in the first webinar of the Study in Europe 3 webinar series organized by ACA on March 19. The webinar aimed at taking stock of the impact of COVID-19 on the recruitment of international degree-seeking students and the changes in marketing and recruitment practices in the past one year.
Organized in three session, the webinar benefited from the inspiring input from Guido Schnieders from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Georgina Tweneboah from the Tempus Public Foundation (TPF) on the impact of COVID on student recruitment and admission trends, and from Radana Zbořilová from Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS), and Jan-Frederic Buss from Swedish Institute (SI) on changes in marketing practices.
The 2-hour programme created an interactive platform for the attendees to report face-to-face, though virtually, on their national trends and changes through breakout sessions. Much more additional materials and insights have been shared asynchronously after the event with the use of an online collaborative tool.
Planned as the first of a series of 9 events in the three-year project, the highly positive reception of the webinar indicated a very strong interest among the project countries for continuous collaboration and exchanges in such unusual times. To keep this vibrant community of practice together, an online community is also being planned in the project framework to facilitate asynchronous exchanges.
