Study in ACAdemy: Joint programmes & English medium instruction

This year, ACA is continuing the successful collaboration with the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS) in the joint delivery of the STUDY IN ACAdemy webinar series. A new webinar entitled ‘’Designing and implementing sustainable joint programmes – practical guidelines and examples’’ took place on 29 April 2022.

Key experts Mirko Varano, Senior Advisor International Projects at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and Andries Verspeeten, Policy Adviser for International Relations at Ghent University, Belgium, with a combined decades-long expertise in the set up and delivery of joint programmes (JPs), including through Erasmus Mundus, provided:

  • a necessary background to the question of sustainability of JPs;
  • a set of guidelines on how to approach this question from the design stage and throughout the programme’s life cycle; and
  • further insights from own experience and gave practical examples on howsustainability can play out in reality.

The second STUDY IN ACAdemy took place on the 20 May 2022 and focused on the topic of ‘’Support for Teaching in English – building capacity for English-medium instruction’’.

As a bespoke training programme, the webinar featured presentation of two experts in the field, Esko Koponen, Specialist in the Strategic Services for Teaching of the University of Helsinki and Julie Walaszczyk, CLIL Advisor and e-Learning Educational Developer at the Centre of Modern Languages University of Mons, who shared their experience in the field.

The webinar provided the opportunity to the participants to discuss their current approaches and reflect on the "why" when it comes to the implementation of EMI.

The next STUDY IN ACAdemy webinar will take place on the 22 June 2022 and will be focused on the topic of priority regions.
