Still time: Previous calls from the April newsletter

School education of children of occupational travellers

The aim of this call is to provide the Commission and decision-makers in the member states with a broad survey of the situation "on the ground", upon which they can base future policy proposals and measures to tackle school problems, such as with reading and writing or school drop-out.

For the purpose of this study, 'children of occupational travellers' refers to those children of pre-school and school age who, due to the occupation of their families, have a lifestyle which might prevent them from attending school with the regularity required by the normal school-year. Examples of this are the children of bargee families, circus families, fairground families or seasonal workers.

Deadline: 6th June 2006
