Still open: Call for proposals: FP7-PEOPLE-2012-ITN—Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN)

The European Commission published on 20 July a call for proposals for Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN) under the People work programme 2012 (the ‘People’ Specific programme of the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7, 2007-2013)). This action aims to improve career perspectives of early-stage researchers in both public and private sectors, thereby making research careers more attractive to young people through a transnational networking mechanism throughout member states and associated countries.

In particular, it is expected to support competitively selected networks of organisations from different countries engaged in research training in defined scientific or technological areas, with appropriate references to interdisciplinary and newly emerging supra-disciplinary fields, and the implementation of joint research training programmes in the form of

  • Multi-partner initial training networks (ITN),
  • European Industrial Doctorates (EID), and
  • Innovative Doctoral Programmes (IDP).

The joint programmes are expected to bring complementary providers of research training from different countries, sectors and disciplines together and to enhance industry-academia cooperation in terms of skills development and knowledge sharing.

The eligibility criteria and the status of participants in a consortium vary from one type of training networks to another, and can be checked separately in the Call fiche or in the People work programme 2012. Indicative budget: EUR 423.23 million Deadline: 12 January 2012 European Commission
