The European Research Council (ERC) has published a call for proposals for the ERC Starting Grant, which aims to support up-and-coming research leaders who are about to establish or consolidate a proper research team and start conducting independent research in Europe.  ERC grants aim to support "frontier research" with particular emphasis on the frontiers of science, scholarships and engineering.
