The Norwegian government launched a Strategy for Increased Cooperation with North America in Higher Education in October 2007. The Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research has allocated funds over the next four years to follow-up on the strategy. The partnership programme for higher education collaboration between institutions in Norway and institutions in the US and Canada was launched in April, as a part of this strategy. The programme is funded by the Ministry of Education and Research, and operated by Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU).

In all, 12 four-year projects coordinated by Norwegian institutions will be funded. The programme shall contribute to strengthen quality academic relations with partner institutions in the US and Canada. The programme is also related to the Strategy for Norway’s Scientific and Technological Cooperation with North America.
