A) StudyinNorway.no
In October The Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU) launched a new website aimed at attracting foreign students to Norwegian institutions of higher education. The portal is part of a new national strategy to promote Norway as a quality provider of higher education. The content ranges from practical information like admission requirements and application procedures to a searchable database of Masters Programmes in English. Currently more than 160 accredited Masters programmes, complete with course descriptions and contact information, are registered in the database. The portal is also wrapped in a new design, which is part of a new visual profile for the promotion of Norway as a student destination.

B) Norwegian Lectureships abroad

As of January 1, 2006, The Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU) will be the new administrator of the action for Norwegian lectureships at universities in more than 15 countries. This action has previously been administered by The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry will continue to be responsible for the policy structure of the action.
The overall purpose of the lectureships is to assist foreign institutions that offer courses in the Norwegian language and Norwegian subjects, and seek to spread information about the Norwegian society. The lecturers will continue to be employed locally by each institution. Worldwide there are now more than 140 institutions offering courses in the Norwegian language and Norwegian subjects.

C) SIU's conference 'Bridges of Knowledge' - Presentations online

Academics and decision makers from all over the world met in Bergen in September at SIU's biennial conference "Bridges of Knowledge" to discuss the role of research and higher education in the fight against poverty. The two-day conference included keynote speakers from Africa, Asia and Europe.
