The European Commission has recently launched a new web portal titled 'Scientix'. This new resource provides information on news, know-how and best practices in science education, as well as gives access to research results, reports, policy documents and teaching materials from European science education projects financed by the European Commission or by different national projects and initiatives. In addition, Scientix will organise conferences, events and workshops to facilitate knowledge sharing and provide networking opportunities.

Scientix intends to attract a wide range of actors, including researchers and teachers, policy makers, parents, and even members of the general population with an interest in science. The content is available in English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish; however, upon request, the collected teaching materials can be accessed in any European language.

Scientix is financed under the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP7). It looks like a very promising tool with great potential for success if it is able to effectively engage its target audience and inspire relevant stakeholders to make a real difference in the field of science.
