Reopening of the DAAD Information Centre in Kyiv

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is reopening its office in Kyiv after more than two years of closure due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The information centre will enhance counselling services for students and researchers, reinforcing DAAD's commitment to long-term academic exchange support between Ukraine and Germany.

The Kyiv office, operational since 1998, had transitioned to digital support from Bonn during its closure. The reopened centre will facilitate on-site advice, promote collaborations between Ukrainian and German universities, and connect with around 4,000 DAAD alumni in Ukraine.

Since the onset of the war, DAAD has launched special programmes to assist approximately 20,000 Ukrainian students and researchers, helping them pursue or continue their studies. Academic ties have strengthened, with over 300 university collaborations established and nearly 10,000 Ukrainian students currently studying in Germany.

Additionally, the DAAD has proposed a "German-Ukrainian University Network" to support the reconstruction of Ukraine’s higher education system, demonstrating a robust commitment to fostering academic partnerships amidst ongoing challenges.
