Registrations open – Bologna Process Researchers’ Conference

The 6th edition of the Future of Higher Education – Bologna Process Researchers' Conference (FOHE-BPRC6) will take place on 16–17 September 2026 in Bucharest, Romania. The conference is organised by the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI), in partnership with the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research and will bring together more than 150 policymakers, researchers and higher education professionals from Europe and beyond. Registrations are now open and participation is free of charge.

Since its 1st edition in 2011, the conference has established itself as an important forum for generating and presenting evidence-based research, directly feeding into the Bologna Process developments and the subsequent ministerial conferences. The articles presented at the event are published in peer-reviewed volumes by Springer, the previous publications having generated over 3.5 million downloads in total thus far.

This year's edition marks the 15th anniversary since the first conference and coincides with Romania and the Republic of Moldova holding the EHEA Secretariat (2024–2027) for the second time. The event is to inform the Iași – Chișinău Ministerial Conference, scheduled to take place in May 2027.

For the first time, the conference is structured around two intertwined tracksResearchers’ Voice, which retains the format of an academic conference featuring peer-reviewed papers, on the first day, and EduGlobal, a new track bringing together European and global decision-makers to respond directly to the issues raised by the researchers, on the second conference day.

The Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) will be contributing to the reflections via a joint presentation with the European Association for International Education (EAIE) of their joint research on national strategies for internationalisation (2025).

The conference will run alongside a parallel policy-oriented event – The Future of Higher Education: Sharing Knowledge and Supporting Implementation for a Stronger Bologna Process – organised by the EHEA Secretariat, with participants able to attend selected sessions of both events.

More information and registration are available on the conference website.
