Over the past two years, the PROFFORMANCE+ international webinar series has established itself as a dynamic platform for future educators across Europe. Engaging over a thousand higher education professionals from Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Georgia, Hungary, and Serbia, the series has facilitated the sharing of innovative teaching practices and fostered professional connections across borders. At its core, the initiative introduced participants to the PROFFORMANCE Assessment Tool, a key component of the broader PROFFORMANCE Toolkit, which also includes the Teaching Excellence Database.
The webinar series empowered participants to improve their teaching in critical areas such as student-cantered course design, assessment, inclusion, and digitalisation. By spotlighting themes central to modern higher education, the series not only shared valuable insights but also amplified the reach of the project, engaging tens of thousands of stakeholders through strategic promotion.
Each webinar was anchored in one of the six thematic areas evaluated by the Assessment Tool: student-centred course design, teaching and learning practices, student work evaluation, social impact, professional development, and institutional organisation. These were explored through the lens of four priority areas (digitalisation, internationalisation, inclusion, and sustainability) assessed from the perspectives of self-reflection, peer feedback, and student input.
The sessions focused on the principles of active learning, fair assessment strategies, and the societal role of higher education institutions. Participants also explored innovative methodologies such as gamification and project-based learning. Issues of equity, global collaboration, environmental sustainability, and the integration of digital tools were also key topics. Best practices drawn from the PROFFORMANCE Teaching Excellence Database, featuring 126 award-winning methods from educators across six countries, brought these themes to life through real-world examples.
The journey continues this summer at the Teacher Power! online event, where the winners of the 2024/2025 Higher Education Teacher Award will be announced. Scheduled for June 4, 2025, the event will spotlight outstanding teaching in areas like student-centred design, impactful learning, and sustainability. Educators are invited to explore new ideas, connect with peers, and celebrate excellence in teaching. To stay informed, subscribe to the PROFFORMANCE Newsletter or follow the project on LinkedIn.
