Portrait of a Transnational Education Student

British Council. Portrait of a Transnational Education Student. Author, London, 2012. Pages: 27.

This report examines the attitudes of present and prospective students, administrators and alumni towards transnational education (TNE). The report starts by discussing the complexity of the TNE concept, followed by an outline of the current TNE market situation. The report also includes the analysis of a series of indicators mapping the characteristics of TNE students. These indicators are divided into two main areas: the first comprises data on age, employment status and subjects of interest to students; the second explores the motivations of TNE students. The results suggest that factors such as course quality, time commitment and relevance are more important than the institution’s reputation or ranking in predicting students’ decisions regarding TNE programmes.
