In the period February-June 2015 ACA conducted a survey on Open Education commissioned by the European Commission’s Institute for Prospective Technological Studies that targeted higher education institutions in five EU countries (France, Germany, Poland, Spain and the UK). The main aim of the survey was to understand if, how and to what extent higher education institutions in the five countries engage in Open Education (OE), or if not, why not. 

The results of the survey show some trends in OE common to all the five countries as well as some difference among them. This study is unique in the field for its statistical relevance, ensured to provide a realistic picture of the provision of OE in the surveyed countries and to obtain valid data on the observable differences.
