At the beginning of this year, Jakob Calice took up his post at the helm of OeAD, Austria’s member of ACA. Jakob Calice, who was appointed for an initial 5-year term, succeeds Stefan Zotti as the head of the organisation. ACA wishes him success and luck in his important position.
Jakob Calice studied history at the University of Vienna and gained his PhD in Leeds in cultural studies and tourism. Before his university studies Calice, who is 39 years young, completed the master class for photography at the Höhere Graphische Bundeslehr- und Versuchsanstalt and co-curated several exhibitions – e.g. at the Museum of Technology in Vienna. The father of twins was until last year the Secretary General of the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF), where he has also held other positions of responsibility since 2010.
Under the leadership of Jakob Calice, OeAD will undergo important institutional changes. At the beginning of 2020, OeAD will integrate another organisation, KulturKontakt, from the area of culture. Already now, Jakob Calice has already also become the Managing Director of KulturKontakt, to secure its smooth integration. Together, the two organisations will have about 285 staff and a budget of some EUR 78 million.
