Earlier this summer, the Norwegian government presented two new strategic documents that will guide the country’s participation in two EU flagship funding programmes and their respective collaboration areas in the period 2021-2027: Horizon Europe and the European Research Area (ERA), and Erasmus+ and the European Education Area (EEA).
These documents outline both the overarching goals and more concrete targets for participation, and put forward several action lines for different actors involved. Both strategies underline the fact that Norway and the EU share the same vision for education, research, and innovation, and set out similar goals for European collaboration in these fields. They also recognize that the participation in the EU programmes is an important part of the Norwegian knowledge policy.
On 20 September, Norway’s participation in Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ was formally incorporated into the EEA Agreement in the Joint EEA committee.
