NOMA, Norad’s (Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation) programme for Master Studies, has been awarded a provisional allocation of nearly 92 million Norwegian Krone (NOK) (more than 11 million Euros) to establish Master programmes in the South. The contribution was made by the Programme Board of NORA and will support 17 cooperation projects implemented by 14 higher education institutions in 11 different countries in the South. Partners of these Southern institutions include 8 Norwegian higher education institutions.

Focusing on the needs and priorities of the countries in the South and providing educational activities to both public and private sector staff are the primary aims of NOMA. Main partner countries include Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Master programme titles and their current allocations can be found at NOMA’s website. Noma is managed by the SIU (Norwegian Center for International Cooperation in Higher Education), an ACA member organisation. The current programme period is 2006-2010 and will see a 343 million NOK investment, which is more than 40 million Euros. NOMA
