New Zealand will provide further funding of NZD 465 000 (EUR 280 000) to boost internationalisation of its education sector. Additional funds will be distributed to education institutions through the International Education Growth Fund (IEGF), administered by the government body New Zealand Education (NZE).
The IEGF was created in order to support New Zealand’s education sector on fostering international cooperation, establishing joint degree programmes, and attracting international students to New Zealand as a study destination. Already in June 2013, the first round of IEGF funding was launched with 29 projects funded for education institutions, education business services, peak bodies and economic development agencies. The 12 recipient projects of the second IEGF round were only unveiled this month and will offer new opportunities for joint market developments in Brazil, partnerships programmes with Chinese education institutions, marketing campaigns in Southeast Asia and many more initiatives.
The first and second round of IEGF funding has so far provided NZD 930 000 (EUR 560 000) for internationalisation projects in the field of education and the New Zealand government is committed to provide further funding in the framework of its initiatives for growth.
