The Association of African Universities (AAU) has announced the appointment of their new Secretary General.  Professor Goolam Mohamedbhai will take office on 1 August this year after the current SG, Professor Akilagpa Sawyerr, has served his full term.

Dr. Mohamedbhai, for many years Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mauritius, is currently the President of the International Association of Universities. He is the recipient of many awards and several honorary doctorates He has also served AAU in various capacities as a team leader and consultant.  A civil engineer by training with a PhD from Manchester University, he will take over a completely restructured AAU with a sound financial and human resource basis.

ACA thanks Dr. Akilagpa Sawyerr for years of dedicated service and cooperation with its member organisations and wishes Dr. Mohamedbhai all the best in his new position, so vital to the development of African higher education.
