The Institute of International Education (IIE) has recently come out with a few publications. Firstly, it has published four new regional IIEPassport Study Abroad Directories, produced in partnership with Lonely Planet: IIEPassport Study Abroad in Europe; IIEPassport Study Abroad in Asia and Oceania; IIEPassport Study Abroad in Africa and the Middle East; and IIEPassport Study Abroad in the Americas.
The IIEPassport directories feature over 9 500 programmes offered by U.S. and foreign universities and providers, making them the most comprehensive resource to planning study abroad for students, parents and advisers. Content on living, traveling and studying in the region is provided by Lonely Planet, and will provide readers with a photo-rich experience that presents an intimate look at each geographic location.
In Innovation Through Education: Building the Knowledge Economy in the Middle East, scholars from a wide range of institutions and organisations set out to describe and understand current innovations, trends, and issues facing the Middle East as a region, as they take the steps toward educational reform and development. National and global political discourse is increasingly making mention of the importance of developing ‘knowledge economies’, and placing the production of knowledge societies at the forefront of national development policy. Such development aims are being embraced by governments across the Arab world, and the Middle East as a region is seeking to embrace new ways of developing capacity through education. Through broad thematic discussions, examples of current trends and practices, and national case studies, this report offers a contemporary and erudite examination of current innovative practices in the Middle East.
