New digitalisation plan for HEIs in Norway

On 11 September, the Norwegian Ministry of Research and Higher Education presented a new strategy for digital transformation in the university and college sector. ACA member, the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills, which plays a coordinating and supportive role for the topic of digitalisation, has closely collaborated with various stakeholders, such as educational institutions, business community and student unions, to prepare the draft strategy.

One of the main goals of the new strategy is to foster the contribution of higher education institutions to the development of a broad set of competences that individuals, companies, and the public sector need to succeed in the digital transformation. This strategy will also support the development of new knowledge on the impact of digitalisation on society and individuals.

The Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills will take forward the implementation of the new strategy based on a strategic action plan that will be jointly developed with the sector, in view of its great diversity and in full respect of its institutional autonomy.
