New Director-General of DG EAC to start in September

The newly appointed Director-General of DG Education and Culture, Ms Martine Reicherts, is to assume the post on 1 September 2015, after eight years of holding the same position in DG “Publications Office” in Luxembourg.

The change in DG EAC is the result of a broader reshuffling in the Commission in late June 2015 aimed at optimising the work of DGs and having “the right people in the right place, at the right time”, according to President Juncker. Another major goal of the Juncker Commission is to increase the share of women in senior management. To these ends, 11 Directors-General will change DGs, 8 Deputy Directors-General will become Directors-General and a number of Directors-General and Deputy Directors-General posts will be published and created. Ms Reicherts holds a degree in Law. Before joining the European Commission in 1984, she was a barrister at the Bar of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and a lecturer at Business School Solvay of the Free University of Brussels. She is also active as a yoga teacher.

ACA welcomes the Commission’s initiative to increase the number of women in senior positions and we wish Ms Reicherts all the best in her new post! EC press release Martine Reicherts CV
