New DAAD branch office in Colombia

The DAAD is strengthening its presence in South America. At the end of January 2021, a new DAAD branch office was opened in Colombia's capital Bogotá. The branch office also assumes regional responsibility for Peru, Ecuador and Venezuela.

Germany is perceived as an excellent location for study and research in Colombia and the region and institutions in these countries are important partners for German higher education institutions. For more than ten years, the DAAD has been funding two centres of excellence in Colombia: CeMarin, with its focus on marine research, and the German-Colombian Peace Institute CAPAZ. By transforming the previous DAAD information centre in Colombia into a fully-fledged branch office, the DAAD will further expand the diverse academic connections between Germany, Colombia and the region and intensify the exchange of students and researchers.

The DAAD branch in Colombia will be part of DAAD’s worldwide network of 18 branch offices and additional information centres and information points. With this network, DAAD is present in over 80 countries on all continents.
