New ACA publication looks into the future of European higher education

The Academic Cooperation Association is delighted to announce its latest publication in the series of ACA Paper on International Cooperation in Education. The book, entitled Beyond 2010. Priorities and challenges for higher education in the next decade, is a collection of articles by renowned experts in international higher education from Europe and beyond, including contributions by David Coyne, Sir Peter Scott, Ulrich Teichler, Neil Kemp, Jan Sadlak, Jocelyne Gacel-?vila, and Catharine Stimpson. The articles are based on papers prepared for the ACA Annual Conference 2008 in Tallinn. Both the conference and the publication received support from the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme. As we all know, 2010 is an important date on the European calendar. However, we also know that many of the goals set for higher education in the context of the Lisbon Strategy and the Bologna Process will not be wholly accomplished across Europe by the established timeframe, despite the ambitions and efforts. The book attempts to provide responses to the questions European higher education is currently facing: What current challenges will persist well into the next decade? What opportunities does European higher education face in an increasingly globalised world? Where will we be ten years from now? Issues scrutinised include, but are not limited to, student mobility, alternative delivery of international education, funding of higher education, and the impact of labour market changes on higher education. The book can be ordered from any bookshop, as well as from the publisher Lemmens Medien. ACA
