New ACA member APA celebrates Tempus in the Baltics

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of  the Tempus programme in the Baltic States, an international conference was held in Riga on 5 October, 2007. Representatives from different Baltic higher education institutions involved in the Tempus programme in the past took part in the conference, contributing their project memories and sharing best practice for the future.

The conference was opened with a welcome speech by Alberts Prikulis, the director of ACA’s newest member, the Academic Programme Agency in Latvia. Mr. Prikulis  introduced the audience to the history of the Tempus programme and its significance.

ACA would like to extend a warm welcome APA, who joined earlier in the summer and is the second ACA member, alongside Estonian Archimedes Foundation, from the Batltic states. Among the programmes that APA manages are the Socrates Programme, the Lifelong Learning Programme, the Erasmus Mundus Programme and, as of 2008,  the Nordplus Programme (of the Nordic Council of Ministers) in Latvia. APA has a rich history of contribution to the higher education sector in Latvia and we look forward to working together.
