The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) continues its efforts to support students and scientists from Belarus, together with the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP), acting on behalf of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science. Support will be renewed under the second edition of Solidarity with Belarus, based on the programme’s first successful round (for more details, see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, April 2021).
In the second edition of the ‘Solidary with Scientists’ initiative more than 40 projects were submitted involving Belarusian scientists who face repression in their home country and are deprived of the possibility to conduct research. According to the rules of the programme, each scholar participating in 2022 will receive financial support consisting of: the scientist’s salary (PLN 8,500 gross); a one-off mobility allowance (PLN 5,000), as well as some tutoring and training allowances.
Furthermore, 395 students from Belarus received sholarships and will study at 62 higher education institutions this academic year. The most popular fields of study among Belarusian scholarship holders are: management, computer science, philology, biotechnology and journalism.
