On 4 June 2026, higher education professionals from Norway gathered online for the final session of the Inclusion ACAdemy to explore practical strategies for strengthening inclusion and diversity in advancing inclusive internationalisation. The workshop focused on developing institutional roadmaps that ensure international opportunities are accessible to all students, particularly those facing barriers to participation. 

The event opened with an introduction by representatives from ACA and SIHO, followed by an overview of the workshop objectives. Participants then engaged in thematic breakout discussions covering three key areas: inclusive internationalisation strategies, support structures, and student engagement. 

A central theme throughout the discussions was the importance of embedding inclusion into institutional internationalisation strategies. Participants explored ways to involve students, staff, and external stakeholders in designing inclusive mobility policies and highlighted the critical role of institutional leadership in driving meaningful change. Attention was also given to developing needs-based support systems tailored to students with diverse backgrounds and circumstances. 

Another major focus was strengthening support structures before, during, and after mobility experiences. Discussions addressed staff training, clearer allocation of responsibilities, needs assessments, and personalised mobility planning to ensure students receive appropriate guidance throughout their international journey. 

The workshop also examined how institutions can foster a greater sense of belonging through inclusive communication, accessible information, and meaningful student engagement. Participants discussed promoting mobility opportunities through student ambassadors, improving feedback mechanisms, and organising welcoming activities that meet the needs of all incoming students. 

The event concluded with a plenary discussion on future actions and a wrap-up session summarising the key insights. By encouraging collaboration and the exchange of good practices, the National Roadmap workshop reinforced the shared commitment of higher education institutions to creating more equitable and inclusive international mobility opportunities for every student.
