On the basis of existing research and scientific literature, including practical examples and empirical proof, a certain number of hypotheses on the relationship between multilingualism and creativity are judged to be worthy of testing. In particular, this study must take into account projects carried out as part of the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme for research, in the research area 'Linguistic diversity in a knowledge-based European society'. The study shall also contribute to the debate generated by the European Year of Creativity 2009.
