Beginning of March Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) celebrated supporting its hundred thousands beneficiary. To mark this milestone, 30 outstanding researchers were invited to represent the pool of promising scholars supported in two decades since the launch of MSCA, and to showcase European excellence and international mobility in research. The group of selected fellows comprised one researcher of each EU member state as well as the global dimension with researchers from Colombia and New Zealand showcasing their work. The research topics explored diverse disciplines ranging from climate change to the prevention of radicalization, and painted a picture of MSCA openness to all domains of ground-breaking research and innovation with a societal relevance.
Looking back on 20 years of impact - a budget of EUR 6.2 billion for the period 2014-2020 since the years of Horizon 2020 MSCA has given 20 000 beneficiaries, 80 000 before 2014, a heads start into an international career. Around 65 000 researchers, including 25 000 PhD candidates are expected to take advantage of MSCA opportunities by 2020.
