Mestenhauser Academy for Leadership in Internationalization

The Mestenhauser Institute for International Collaboration has announced the launch of the Mestenhauser Academy for Leadership in Internationalization, a new professional development programme focusing on the leadership of institution-wide internationalisation. The programme is designed as a four-month, evidence-based learning experience combining in-person and online components.

The 2026 edition will take place between March and June 2026, with an in-person module in Prague (CZ) from 12 to 14 April 2026, complemented by online sessions scheduled for March, May and June (dates to be announced). The programme is open to Vice Rectors and Vice Deans for Internationalisation, Senior Internationalisation Officers, and policy advisors who may choose to participate together with their International Office Directors.

Participants will develop hands-on strategic management skills in internationalisation with the support of top world trainers: Dr. Darla Deardorff (UNESCO Chair), Dr. Harvey Charles (former President of AIEA), and Dr. Jos Beelen (Professor at The Hague University of Applied Sciences) as well as build a strong network of leaders across the EU and beyond.

The initiative has been co-designed with senior practitioners and policymakers from across Europe and features contributions from internationally recognised experts. Applications for the 2026 programme are now open. Further information on the programme structure, fees and application process is available here.
